If all goes as planned, Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, whose latest film "The Wolf of Wall Street" releases in India on Christmas day, may visit the country's entertainment capital in the first month of the new year.

"His visit is likely to be a part of a different strategy, by way of which the "Titanic" star will meet some of India's promising entrepreneurs," a source from the film's distribution team in India, told IANS.

"Leonardo sincerely believes that the character on whose life the film is based is a huge role model for the youth of today in terms of enterprising skills.

The film follows the real life story of Jordan Belfort's rise to a wealthy stockbroker to his fall due to use of fraudulent methods.

"The actor has learnt that India is a country booming with young firms and start-ups and hence he felt that more than an obvious promotion of the movie, a platform to interact with such a crowd of young enthusiasts would be a far better connect and a great opportunity," the source added.

"The Wolf of Wall Street", directed by Martin Scorsese, is being distributed in India by PVR Pictures and MVP Entertainment, and if one hears it right, backend preparations are already underway to make the visit special for the widely popular actor.

In fact, DiCaprio has, in the past attempted to visit the country - first for a tiger conservation project, and earlier this year, there were rumours that he would come down for the promotion of Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby", which also stars Bollywood's beloved Amitabh Bachchan.

Five grooming essentials for men

$
0
0

Like women, even men need to look and smell fabulous. Look beyond your shaving kit to be well-groomed.

Priyanka Tyagi, Cosmetologist, Skeyndor India, suggests a list of grooming products for men:

- Facial cleanser: Cleansers especially designed for men should be used to extract the excess oil while moisturising also.

- Shaving kit: It must consist of a gentle shaving gel or foam or cream which softens the facial hair. After shave is important for men as it not only works as an anti-inflammatory product but also helps in healing the micro-scars caused due to shaving. A good quality razor may save them from a lot of cuts.

- Moisturiser: In addition to all this, men should not forget to use a moisturiser. A man’s skin needs to be moisturised on a regular basis as the moisture of their skin gets depleted with every shave. If they want to save time and product usage, they may opt for moisturisers which have sunblock too.

- Hair products: Hair care products like oil or hair nourishing creams or gels are essential to make their hair look neat, stylish and healthy.

- Deodorant: Men have highly active sweat glands, so a deodorant or body fragrance is a must. These products will control body odour and make you feel fresh throughout the day.

Nitin Gadkari sings with Sonu Nigam on polling day

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nitin Gadkari was caught in a jolly mood in the capital Wednesday, a day the city-state is voting for the Delhi assembly elections. He let his hair down and matched ace playback singer Sonu Nigam's impeccable vocal chords at a conclave here.

Together, they sang "Tujhse naraaz nahin zindagi, hairaan hoon main" from the 1983 film "Masoom".

Sonu was here to speak at the India Today Group's conclave Agenda Aaj Tak as part of the first session "Sonu Ki Sargam", and Gadkari was slated to talk during the second session.

However, the politician turned up earlier to listen to Sonu, who is one of his favourite singers.

Gadkari requested the singer to croon a song of his choice, and the latter sang "Sandese aate hain" from the movie "Border".

"It is one of the most important songs in my career. It was one of the first songs that got me mainstream success," Sonu said.

It was then that Gadkari was urged to sing "Tujhse naraaz nahin zindagi" along with Sonu, who gave the politician's talent a thumbs up, and said: "Surr hain".

While speaking at the session, Sonu talked about the viability of reality shows, his emergence as a singer, his past decision to keep long tresses, the lyrics of present-day songs and the advantages and disadvantages of technology on the music industry.

Seasoned ghazal singers Talat Aziz and Pankaj Udhas were also part of the audience at the session. They too showered praise on Sonu.

Reality shows have reduced hand-to-mouth situation: Sonu Nigam

Versatile singer Sonu Nigam, who has anchored as well as judged quite a few music reality shows on the small screen, says platforms such as these have reduced hardships faced by aspirants in the country's entertainment capital.

Recalling his early days in Mumbai, Sonu said here Tuesday at the India Today Group's conclave Agenda Aaj Tak: "When we came to Mumbai, we used to worry about money for our living. We used to stand for hours outside composers' homes and offices in search of work."

Reality shows, he said, have changed that scenario to some extent.

"People don't have to struggle as much. They come here, try to get into reality shows, build contacts and they get to do some shows, which gives them Rs.15,000 to Rs.20,000 a night. That keeps them happy and busy. So it's not a hand-to-mouth situation for them anymore," said Sonu, who was the host of "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" in the 1990s.

He has since, judged some new seasons of the same show. He has also been part of others like "Kisme Kitna Hai Dum", "Indian Idol", "X Factor India" and more.

However, Sonu, known for songs like "Sandese aate hain", "Yeh dil deewana", "Panchhi nadiya" and "Kal ho naa ho", believes real talent is not dependent on reality shows.

"Whoever has to emerge as a big name, will do so whether or not he or she gets a reality show," Sonu said and cited the example of names like Kunal Ganjawala and Shekhar Ravijiani, who lost reality shows but managed to carve a niche for themselves.

Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor may have girls drooling over him, but his father and yesteryear star Rishi Kapoor still hasn't come to terms with him having a girlfriend.

The 31-year-old Kapoor scion, who is reportedly dating his “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani” co-star Katrina Kaif, talked about his camaraderie with his dad while chatting on Karan Johar's celebrity talk show “Koffee With Karan”.

The second episode of the fourth season of “Koffee With Karan” will be aired Sunday 9 p.m. on Star World and Ranbir's cousin and actress Kareena Kapoor will also join him.

When host Karan asked him what is he (Rishi) like with your girlfriends, Ranbir said: “I don't think he has come to terms with the fact that his son can have a girlfriend... I don't think he is ready to accept, in way 'oh aaja let's have a meal together'.”

On being asked if he feels awkward introducing his girlfriend to his dad, the young star first said: "I don't know."

He then quickly added: “Maybe I am awkward, so I am putting it on him. I never really tried to (get together) for a dinner with a girlfriend with my parents. Maybe I should try sometime soon.”

However, Ranbir, who in the past has dated Deepika Padukone, admitted that his mother is comparatively at ease with his girlfriends.

”She is cool with all my girlfriend and that's the truth,” he added and rued about his parents being dragged into his link up rumours.

“My parents have worked so hard all these years and they have reached a certain age, but unfortunately they are dragged into these controversies where me and another girl are concerned.

“They are absolutely not like that,” he said of his parents who are known for working together in hits such as “Khel Khel Mein”, “Kabhie Kabhie” and “Doosra Aadmi” as well as “Do Dooni Chaar”.

But in the same breath, he confessed: “Yes, my mother will be a little possessive about me as I am the only son, but that is all about it.”

However, Ranbir, who has earned the star status with hits like "Raajneeti", "Rockstar", "Barfi" and "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", is not at all a mamma's boy and makes his own decisions.

“They don't tell me what to do or what not to do or who to be and who not to be. They are happy if I am happy as long as it is a girl,” said the actor.

The episode is likely to offer more meat. For instance, Ranbir is yet to confirm his relationship with Katrina, but Kareena referred to the "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" actress as her sister-in-law on the same show while answering a question.

Want shinning teeth? Eat apple, chew gum

$

0

Teeth whitening treatment has become increasingly popular in recent years, thanks to modern lifestyle. But it is now possible to achieve one at home. Eating apple on daily basis and chewing gum is beneficial when it comes to maintaining white pearlies.

With Christmas and New Year approaching, everyone wants to look and feel their best. Keeping this in mind, Peta Leigh, a teeth whitening expert, offers tips for achieving a bright white smile, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

- Eat your way to whiter teeth: Foods that are firm or crisp are known to help clean teeth as they're eaten. Apples are considered to be ‘nature's toothbrush’ and are a great way of cleaning teeth on the go or at lunch time when you are at work and unable to brush your teeth. Other choices include raw carrots, celery, and popcorn.

- Get a calcium boost: This may come as a surprise to many but cheese is also known for helping to maintain healthy white teeth. Although very fattening, cheese speeds the neutralization of acid and remineralisation of enamel.

- Wash away the stains: Water is not only essential for overall wellbeing, it is also vital for great oral health. Water acts as a natural cleaner and has the power to wash away bacteria and residue left on the teeth after eating. So be sure to drink a glass of water after every meal.

- Neutralise acid: Chewing gum is also very beneficial when it comes to maintaining a white smile. Chewing gum helps to clean teeth mechanically by removing debris, and it stimulates production of saliva, which increases your saliva’s ability to neutralise acid and remineralise your enamel. This ultimately strengthens teeth.

- Quit smoking: Lifestyle choices can also influence a natural white smile with smoking being one of the biggest causes of teeth decay and discolouration. The nicotine and tar in the cigarette result in teeth darkening, losing their natural white.

- The little extras: Flossing removes some of the staining between teeth, making your smile instantly look whiter. Try to floss several times a week as this will not only improve the health of your gums, you will also notice your smile looking brighter.

- See the light: Dark coloured foods are also notorious for causing discolouration in the naturally white teeth enamel. The best thing to do is try to avoid these foods and drinks such as coffee, balsamic vinegar and red wine, but if you do want to treat yourself, drink a glass of water after as this will help minimise staining.
