Overloading your luggage with clothes and accessories you may not necessarily need during a vacation can be painful. So, pack smart according to the destination and duration of your holiday.
Here are some easy tips doled out by Kate Angliss, head of Merchandise of fashion e-tailer Kaleidoscope, as compiled by femalefirst.co.uk:
Mediterranean cruise: Creating a holiday wardrobe for a cruise holiday can be tricky as destinations vary. Focus more on accessories to look stunning at each and every destination. Scarves are ideal for styling up a simple top and trouser combo for a casual evening look. They can be used for covering shoulders when necessary, and can be turned into a headband or sarong while relaxing at the beach.
Weekend at the seaside: As you won’t be spending more that two to three days at seaside, it’s best to carry a small bag. Take clothes according to the activities you have in mind. For a trip to the beach, dinner outside, a stroll round the shops, choose one pair of light trousers and a cardigan.
Romantic city break: Classic pieces such as skinny jeans, crisp shirts and sharp blazers are must carry as they are versatile. Take statement jewellery, standout shoes and bright and bold scarves.
Fortnight in the sun: Since the duration is longer, people tend to carry big bags. Instead of folding clothes, simply roll them. This way, the clothes will stay in better state and also cover up gaps in suitcase. Choose one key colour to form the basis of your entire holiday wardrobe. A light neutral colour such as white is ideal as it can go well with anything. Put different colours and vibrant pieces also.
