A court here Thursday told Bollywood actor Raghubir Yadav to pay monthly alimony of Rs.40,000 to his estranged wife.
Additional Sessions Judge Anuradha Shukla Bhardwaj dismissed Yadav's plea challenging a magisterial court order asking him to pay the maintenance.
The court said it finds "no infirmity or illegality in the order of the trial court".
Yadav had informed the court that he was earning Rs.2.25 lakh annually.
His wife, however, opposed it by saying that being a person of high status and stature, it could not be believed that his income is too low.
The sessions court upheld the order, where the magistrate had assessed and presumed Yadav's income to be Rs.1.25 lakh per month.
The sessions court said the magistrate had done nothing wrong in making an assessment regarding the income of the actor on the basis of the work which he has been doing.
Yadav has worked in various movies, including "Lagaan" and "Peepli Live".
