Vivek Rangachari, the producer of highly acclaimed "Lunchbox", says his next will be a remake of Tamil hit "Chennai 600028", which was about street cricket.
He has tentatively titled the Hindi version "Kirkit", which will be made under his banner DAR Motion Pictures.
"Yes, we are remaking a Tamil film 'Chennai 28' in Hindi. The film has gully cricket as the backdrop. It's a very youth-centric film and the film is tentatively titled 'Kirkit'," he said and added that the Hindi version will be made in a way that it would appeal to the audience.
Rangachari said director Bejoy Nambiar has teamed up with him to co-produce the movie.
"Bejoy is co-producing the film with us and it will be directed by Yazad, who worked as an assistant director with Bejoy in 'David'," he said.
Released in 2007, "Chennai 600028", which was written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, did great business at the southern box office.
"The film will have a bunch of newcomers. We shot a few portions during 'Dahi Handi' as we needed those scenes for the film. Now, from the fourth week of September, the next schedule will start," he added.
