The third edition of the India Film Project, which gives budding filmmakers a platform to showcase their work, will be held Sep 20-28 in Ahmedabad. Filmmakers like Tigmanshu Dhulia, Nikhil Advani and Bejoy Nambiar are on the jury this year.

The festival gives budding filmmakers a chance to make their own films in a period of 48 hours on a common theme. They can shoot their films in their own cities and can upload them online. The festival will be accepting international entries as well.

Advani, known for films like "Kal Ho Naa Ho" and "Delhi Safari" believes such platforms will help in the right growth of the industry.

"Our industry is growing exponentially and the need for professionals in-front and behind the camera is also keeping in pace. Initiatives like the India Film Project need to be supported and advocated strongly as they provide a credible platform for new talent to be showcased," Advani said in a statement.

Besides the filmmaking competition, the India Film Project will also witness a five-day film festival, with workshops by eminent filmmakers and technicians as well as film marketing related panel-discussions and cinema exhibitions.

The fest has participation from all across the country, said Ritam Bhatnagar, founder and project director.

"We have received plenty of registrations from teams from metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru to smaller cities like Siliguri, Bhilai, Davangere, Rajkot, Dehradun, Indore, Ranchi, Raipur and many more tier-II cities. It’s a rare opportunity to make a film and showcase it to such a renowned jury," added Bhatnagar.
