Renowned for his prowess in acting and elocution, veteran Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee will soon be seen in a new role, unveiling a collection of his sketches, doodles and paintings at an exhibition.
"Forms Within", an exhibition of artworks by the actor in his inimitable style will showcase sketches and doodles that Chatterjee has been doing on the sidelines for around five decades.
The display, beginning here Sep 12, will include sketches of Chatterjee's characters - the actor's visualisations of the characters in his films.
Chatterjee is famed for portraying ace detective Feluda based on Satyajit Ray's "Feluda" series. Other cinematic milestones include "Apur Sansar","Aparajito", "Charulata", "Aranyer Din Ratri" and "Ashani Sanket".
Watercolour paintings, some with a bit of his poetry on one side, are also part of the exhibition. A website and a book of his paintings will also be launched during the inauguration.
Curated by Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya and scheduled to be inaugurated by filmmaker Mrinal Sen at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, the exhibition will conclude Sep 18.
