Oscar winning A.R Rahman's KM College of Music and Technology was inaugurated here Friday by Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries.
Spread across over 27,000 sq. ft, the college campus will accommodate an orchestra school for underprivileged children besides housing Rahman's KM music conservatory.
There are separate recording studios for drums, piano and string instruments.
"The goal of this institution is to treat music as art form, but not merely as a medium for cinematic entertainment," said Rahman speaking at the launch of his college.
Ambani, who was accompanied by his wife Nita Ambani, were welcomed by a Sufi performance by the students of KM music conservatory followed by a tour of the facility.
The institution will offer full-time and part-time courses affiliated to the Middlesex University, London.
