Reports that superstar Salman Khan has said no to a love-making scene with Jacqueline Fernandez in his upcoming film "Kick" have been doing the round. But the actress said she is unaware of any such scene even being in the film.

"I don't know where that (news about rejecting the scene) came from. It wasn't there when I saw (the script)," Jacqueline said here Thursday at the launch of Dr. Dinyar's book "Beauty Unleashed".

"I don't know what they saw," she added.

Reportedly, Salman has asked director Sajid Nadiadwala either to remove the scene or re-work on it.

For the first time Salman and Jacqueline will be seen together on-screen in "Kick", which also features Randeep Hooda.

Besides "Kick", Jacqueline will also be seen in a special number in choreographer Prabhudeva's directorial venture "Ramaiya Vastavaiya".

Composer A.R. Rahman has cast a magic spell yet again with "Raanjhanaa" songs and the film's lead actress Sonam Kapoor says the music maestro has infused spirituality into the film's music with the track "Tum tak".

Coming out June 21, "Raanjhanaa" also stars Abhay Deol and Swara Bhaskar.

Raj Kumar Gupta worked with Vidya Balan for the first time in "No One Killed Jessica" when the actress was unmarried. They teamed up again for "Ghanchakkar" and the director praises the "Parineeta" girl for not "limiting herself" even after marriage.

"Vidya is a thorough professional. She doesn't limit herself as an actress even after her marriage. She does whatever she is asked to do," Gupta told IANS.

There were reports that the film has a kissing scene between Vidya and Emraan Hashmi, but Gupta refused to confirm it saying: "As far as the lip lock scene is concerned, I won't say whether it is there or not. All I can say is they play husband and wife, so there is a space to explore."

Ameesha Patel finds anti-hero role tough

Ameesha Patel turns into a baddie for her forthcoming film "Shortcut Romeo" and asserts it was challenging for her to play an anti-hero role as it has drained her emotionally and physically.

"Anti-hero role is always challenging. Like Shah Rukh Khan's role in 'Baazigar' and 'Darr'. Whenever you break a norm to do something, it is always challenging," Ameesha said here Thursday in an interview.

"To not do a typical heroine, to look sophisticated rich woman and beautiful despite being in a negative role is a tough job because you might cross the line and look like a vamp.

"So, it was a physically and emotionally tiring film for me to do because of the dangerous dialogues, looks, manipulative eyes - all this I haven't done before," added the 38-year-old.

Meanwhile, lead actor of the film Neil Nitin Mukesh states that "Shortcut Romeo" might be a remake of director Susi Ganeshan's Tamil film "Thiruttu Payale", but it is "a very different film - be it the scale or characterisation".

"Only some aspects of the original story have been used by Susi, but there are very unique things in this one. I believe 'Shortcut Romeo' is a fresh film," added the actor.

"Shortcut Romeo" also stars Puja Gupta and hits theatres June 21.

'Thillu Mullu': Half-hearted tribute to the original (Tamil Movie Review)

0
0

Film: "Thillu Mullu"; Cast: Shiva, Isha Talwar, Prakash Raj, Kovai Sarla, Soori, Sathyan, Monisha, Manobala, Blaaze and Santhanam; Director: Badri; Rating: **1/2

Based on the 1981 Tamil comedy "Thillu Mullu", comes the new version of the film with the same name that appears to be a half-hearted tribute to the original.

One of the glaring differences between the two versions is the treatment of comedy. While in the original it was sensible and funny, it is loud and commercial in the remake. Despite a few rib-tickling moments between Shiva and Prakash Raj, "Thillu Mullu" suffers due to extended running time and skewed screenplay.

In search of a job to support his sister and find a groom for her, Pasupathy (Shiva) lands in the office of Shivagurunathan (Prakash Raj), chairman of a water purification company. With his obedience and piousness, Pasupathy wins over Shivagurunathan and eventually lands a job as marketing head.

Pasupathy is not the same man when he steps out of the office. He smokes, drinks and occasionally gets involved in bar brawls. When Shivagurunathan comes to learn about his original identity, Pasupathy's job is at stake.

To save his job being terminated, he convinces his boss that he must have mistaken him with his cat-eyed twin brother, who is exactly opposite to him in behaviour - rebellious and uncivilized.

The rest of the story is all about how Pasupathy continues to fool his boss without blowing his own cover. Will Shivagurunathan ever come to know about Pasupathy's hidden identity? This forms the climax.

Some of the best moments and lines are between Shiva and Prakash Raj in the film. Barring these moments, rest of the scenes don't evoke laughter. In fact, it turns annoying, especially scenes involving Kovai Sarla, who seems to be getting louder with each movie.

Sequences in the original were genuinely funny and never forced you to laugh. The remake fails miserably on this front as it attempts to make every single line as witty as possible with cliched references.

Shiva and Prakash Raj shoulder the film with equal responsibility. I believe they were brilliant in their respective roles, but hardly do they get any support from the rest of the cast.

Isha Talwar, though, in her limited screen time, did her best to get noticed and I think she succeeded.

Never ending second half and extended climax bores the audience.

"Thillu Mullu" would have been even more enjoyable if the running time would have been shortened. Nevertheless, it was an entertaining watch.

So get ready to fill your jewellery box with latest collection offered by the leading brands, Dream Tangle by Vikas Chain & Jewellery and Amaris by Prerna Rajpal.

You can choose from elegant neckpieces beautifully studded with precious and semi-precious stones like diamond, ruby, emerald, pearl teamed with danglers and bracelets in varied shapes, colours and designs.

One can also opt for platinum jewellery, wide-range of solitaire and variety of uncut diamonds like kundan and polki.

He added: “Women today look for classy and sleek jewellery instead of big and heavy-weight pieces. Modern-day brides also go for light-weight necklaces and earrings considering the hot weather.”

Prerna’s collection comprises a mix of traditional and contemporary designs targeting modern women.

She feels various new trends and concepts are emerging in the world of jewellery and people are going for a mix of contemporary and traditional patterns and cuts.

“Use of coloured and fancy shaped diamonds, concepts such as changeable stones, unusual stone settings, fusion of polki and diamonds, lacquer work, and detachable pieces are being increasingly used,” said Prerna.

She added: “At the same time there’s a shift towards wearable and more classic pieces like fusion of yellow and rose gold is gaining dominance.”

Belly dance instructor and dentist Preeti Kochhar, a contestant on "Connected Hum Tum", says the show is working wonders for her. Her husband has started placing his towel at the right place ever since he has come to know that his habit of flinging the towel irked her.

The Zee TV show is about women and their woes, told through stories of six women. Preeti is one of them.

In one of the recent episodes of the show, she complained how her husband invariably flings the towel around on the bed after bathing. She had to go around picking it up every time. But ever since she has shared her woes on the show, she has witnessed a positive change at home.

"It was a delightful surprise for me when my husband actually started making a conscious effort to park his towel in the right place after his bath on seeing that episode. He's been religiously doing so lately," Preeti said in a statement.

She juggles being a mother and wife, and giving time to her profession and her passion for dance -- and is also happy that her husband has been spending more time at home.

"Looks like the show's really working! I hope more and more men watching the show and the stories of our lives begin to understand their own mothers, wives, girlfriends and sisters better and act more sensitively towards them as a result," she added.

Why women suffer in relationship? Bollywood's women answer

0
0

Many independent women suffer physical and emotional abuse in a relationship and actress-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt says there is no simple answer to it, but your silence the first time sets the tone and tenor for your relationship, while Gul Panag feels they tolerate abuse because of emotional vulnerability.

Here is what Bollywood women have to say on the issue:

Pooja Bhatt: There is no simple answer to such a complicated question. I've been there myself. One thing that I was wise enough to know is that you don't have to wait for someone to treat you badly repeatedly. If you allow them to get away with it once, you are telling them they can get away with it every time. Your silence the first time (when physically abused) sets the tone and tenor for your relationship in the future. Abuse is not just physical. Some women spend years with men who don't strike them but break their spirit every day. Remember, if you endure abuse the first time, you are a victim. If you let anyone do that repeatedly, then you are accomplice.

Veena Malik: Yes, I suffered an abusive relationship. I had an abusive relationship with Muhammad Asif... I have been very loyal and honest with him. My world was just work and him. He'd repeatedly humiliate me in front of his friends. He used to say, 'See the most beautiful girl mere isharon pay rehti hai'. He used to get violent if I did not prepare food on time.

I think girls get into abusive relationships because to some extent they like bad boys. They want to change them but instead they are drawn into the dark, desperate personality of the man they think they can mend. I confess abusive relationships give a woman an extreme high even if they cause their self-esteem to fall extremely low. Also, women feel that bad boys will protect them from the outside world.

Amrita Rao: I don't believe in generalizing the gender issue. However, even the most intelligent girl can lose her mind to her heart if she encourages and prolongs a wrong relationship. Any sensible girl must evaluate and analyse at the initial stages of a relationship whether she is getting respect from her partner or not. No relationship of unequal feelings can work. Any partner who makes you feel constantly small and guilty is not worthy of you. Learn to command respect at the start of a relationship. Or you will never get it.

Gul Panag: I suppose successful women tolerate abuse because of their emotional vulnerability. The pressures of everyday life make them hold on to what they think are emotional anchors.I would never tolerate an abusive relationship.

Divya Dutta: When you are putting up a brave front in an abusive relationship, somewhere you do become unreasonably vulnerable. Women in such relationships are often unable to leave and often end up taking the blame for the abusive partner's behaviour. Speaking for myself, I'd rather be single than in an abusive relationship.

Celina Jaitley: I've often wondered why women tolerate abusive relationships. Such men take advantage of the vulnerability of women who crave for a home, family and other domestic bliss. No matter how successful or independent they are, women become victims of their own idea of a perfect fairytale life while men often become abusive to overcome their own insecurities.

Tapsee Pannu: We women are very strong outside. But when someone shows even a little bit of affection, care and love, we melt and go out of our way to give abundant love. But when there is abuse, women in the limelight don't want their plight to be exposed. They have no option but to let the torture continue rather than make a public tamasha of their lives. Sadly, it's always the women who bears the brunt.

Ayesha Shroff: Unfortunately, women do a lot for and in love. Love is an emotion that over-rides logic and good sense.

Tannistha Chatterjee: Fortunately, I've always been treated well by my men. It all depends on the men one chooses.

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan seems to be in awe of Deep Space, said to be the country's first indoor roller coaster, which he launched Friday at the theme-based amusement park Adlabs Imagica in Khopoli, outside the city.

"It is an amazing ride. It is called Deep Space. It is India's first dark roller-coaster, which means that it is an indoor roller-coaster. Everything is indoors. There are stars and planets, which you can see around you. It goes at the speed of 86 km per hr. It goes totally upside down," Varun told IANS.

The actor, who made his acting debut with "Student Of The Year", donned astronaut's costume and was seen persuading other people to try it with him at the launch.

The one-film-old actor said that on a free day, he won't mind coming to Imagica.

"I am 26, so I do what all 26-year-olds do. If I am free and have a holiday or something, I would definitely come here. I would come with all my friends. The reason that I have come here is because I want people to know that it is important. You don't have to always sit at home and watch TV. Get out to be adventurous, go hiking, come to theme park," he said.

But with other amusement parks being right in the city, what attracts him to Imagica?

"I think a lot has to do with the state of the art technology used in all the rides. Also, the food at Imagica is really good. It's also scenic and clean. There is a guarantee of all the rides being tests... it is really a good place," he said.
