After "Bangistan", director I.A. Siddique has also postponed the release date of his film "I Am Mr. Mother" in view of "Baahubali" and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" monopolising the viewers' attention.

Though Siddique is confident about the prospects of "I Am Mr Mother", he too feels that every film deserves a fair chance.

"Currently, there is intense competition between these two big-budget films at the box-office. And 'I Am Mr Mother' is an extremely sensitive and a complete emotional drama. Due to the current mood of the audiences, it is quite possible that our film, made with so much heart and love could be overshadowed by these big films," Siddique told IANS.

"I won't deny that my film is extremely bold and daring. No one has ever been so daring and no one will ever dare to attempt such a subject," he added.

The concept of a pregnant man, played by Gabriel Vats will be seen in a serious light for the very first time while love, friendship, sacrifice, anguish and dejection form integral themes.

Along with Vats, the film also stars Munmum Guha and Nishi Singh. It is produced by Raju K. Sontakke under the banner Shri Raja Productions in association with Picturetube Motion Pictures.

The emotional drama had received thumbs-up from legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan recently, and his praise has certainly heightened the expectations and excitement among its makers and actors.

Indian-American Priya Gopal-Walker, a survivor of child abuse, will represent Washington in the 2015 Miss Teen USA Pageant to be held in Bahamas.

Gopal-Walker, 17, will compete with contestants from all over from the US at the pageant on August 21-22. She made her entry to the pageant after winning the Miss Washington Teen USA crown, India West portal reported.

Gopal-Walker, who is of half Indian and half American heritage, is a student at the Academy of Arts and Sciences in Seattle.

She was to compete in 2012, but had to pull out of the competition as she was facing physical and emotional abuse, the report said.

The beauty queen said she would like to use her title to spread awareness on domestic violence.

"I knew I needed time to emotionally heal from what I had gone through," Gopal-Walker was quoted as saying by the portal.

"Taking the time to get my life restored, I believe, is part of the reason I won this year. I have a strong message of hope for those children who may feel there is no hope or way to get out of their fearful situation," she said.

"I now live with foster parents who love me as though I am their own," Gopal-Walker added.

Southern actors bitten by the entrepreneurial bug

$

In parallel to their acting success, a bevy of southern stars such as Tamannaah Bhatia and Taapsee Pannu have successfully built alternate careers, thanks to their entrepreneurial spirit. From jewellery designing to wedding planning, they've ventured into different businesses.

For Taapsee, who started a wedding company called The Wedding Factory with her younger sister Shagun Pannu and close friend Farah Parvaresh earlier this year, it's a way of keeping herself occupied when she's not busy with her acting assignments.

"I can't sit idle on the days I'm not shooting. It makes me restless," said Tapsee, who has always been interested in planning events and weddings.

"I have been the planner for most of my family events and parties, so that interest helped me to collaborate with my best friend Farah, who was already into this business for quite some time and wanted to start a company on her own," Tapsee told IANS.

"It was easier for me to collaborate with her as I can't be present all the days due to my primary job of being an actor. Also, I wanted to help my sister, Shagun, start her career with this as she just completed her post graduation in events and planning. So, it all fell in place and we kick-started this new venture," she added.

Taapsee also embarked on this journey as she felt she's left with limited time to do anything else in life.

"I have always been a multi-tasker but with 16 movies in four years, I was barely left with any time to do much of something else. Quality has taken over quantity as I feel it's the impact of one good movie that matters more than forcing yourself on screen throughout the year," she said.

Despite her packed schedule with film shoots and ad endorsements, Taapsee says she will squeeze time to handle the marketing and business development of the company.

"Baahubali" star Tamannaah, who grew up watching her father in the jewellery business, launched her own jewellery line Wite and Gold this April.

"I always feel that lucky are those people who get a chance to take their passion as profession and turn into something more. I was lucky twice, I got that first with acting and I am doing it again now with jewellery," Tamannaah told IANS.

She said that she wants to bring out jewellery for her fans, who enjoy the element of style in her films.

Telugu actor Chaitanya Krishna decided to turn his love for sweets into moolah when he co-founded Sweet Experience, a company that home-delivers fresh sweets straight from the interiors of Andhra Pradesh, earlier this year.

"My love for sweets was the inspiration behind this company. As an actor, I'm not sure what's ahead of me. I'm not saying I'm insecure about my future but there's some degree of uncertainty in this profession. This business opportunity will give me some financial support to lean on," he said.

Chaitanya's role will be confined to chief marketing officer. He will market the products and also serve as the company's spokesperson.

Nisha Aggarwal believes actors have a shelf life and hence, she decided to go solo with her jewellery brand, Marsala.

Another popular southern actress Lekha Washington runs her own product design company called Ajji.

Cricketer Irfan Pathan, who has joined dance reality show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded” as the first wild card entry, is happy with the challenge of turning from a non-dancer to a dancer, but he says the biggest challenge for him will be remembering his dance moves.

"I have only danced as a kid at family functions. I am a non-dancer, but I like taking challenges. Also, this is an off-season for cricket, so when I was approached for 'Jhalak' I thought I will take this up as new challenge because the show is all about the journey of a non-dancer to a dancer. It’s going to be a new learning experience," Irfan told IANS.

“My memory...to remember the dance steps is going to be my biggest challenge. I will compete with myself to get better with each performance,” he added.

Irfan said that his earnings from the show will go to his cricket academy, a self-funded project for underprivileged children.

Asked what similarities he sees in cricket and dance, Irfan, who considers his choreographer -- Suchitra Sawant -- as his dancing idol, said: “You can't compare the two industries at all, they are totally different. In sports, you require stamina and in the entertainment industry, you should know how to entertain people in your own unique style.”

He also hopes dancing will keep him fit.

Apart from Irfan, “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded” also has celebrities like Shamita Shetty, Scarlett Wilson, Subhreet Kaur, Raftaar, Ashish Chowdhry, Radhika Madan, Vivian Dsena, Faisal Khan, Kavita Kaushik, Mohit Malik and Sanaya Irani as contestants.

Hosted by Manish Paul, the Colors show, which stared on July 11, has returned with a lot of twist and turns this time. It is judged by Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, filmmaker Karan Johar, dancer Lauren Gottlieb and ace choreographer Ganesh Hegde.
