I've got a good sense of humour, says Sunny Leone

$

"Kuch Kuch Locha Hai" is Sunny Leone's first comedy film, but the actress says she is not new to the genre as she has a "good sense of humour" and has "a little bit of training" in comedy.

The 33-year-old, who was here on Monday to promote the forthcoming comedy caper along with her co-stars Ram Kapoor and Navdeep Chhabra, said she does not feel embarrassed while making a fool of herself onscreen.

"'Kuch Kuch Locha Hai' is my first comedy film. But something that people don't know is that when I lived in the US and used to work there, I was part of a comedy group. There were stand-up comedians in that group and in between we used to do comedy skits," Sunny said.

"So I've a little bit of training in comedy, though I wouldn't say that I'm the funniest person ever, but I have a good sense of humour. I'm not afraid of chirping upon myself and make a fool of me on camera. I don't feel embarrassed doing it," she added.

Directed by Devang Dholakia, the movie will feature Ram as a 45-year-old married man, Pravin Patel, who witnesses a 'locha' (turmoil) in his life after he gets a chance to meet Bollywood star Shanaya (Sunny), about whom he always fantasised.

"Shanaya and I are completely different. She is a fictional one. But there are similarities as she also is an actress like me. There are certain similarities of glamour that are there, but she is not real," Sunny said.

Asked about his working experience with the former adult filmstar, Ram said: "When we started this film, I knew I was working with an in-demand, hot and sexy co-star as everybody wants to work with her these days. But I never thought that it would be so entertaining.

"Everybody knows that I'm a prankster, but Sunny is way beyond me. She is a tomboy and it doesn't come across easily. Normally this kind of fun, I used to have with boys like with Sajid Khan and others in 'Humshakals', but this is my first time with a girl. Sunny can be one of the boys any day."

Given the film's name, has there been any 'locha' (turmoil) in Ram's life?

"I have faced a lot of troubles in my life. When I was a kid I used to steal my father's car and go out. I'm the only son in this world, who has damaged his father’s two cars in a single night. So it was quite similar to my film 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti'," he said.

Navdeep, who is making his debut with the film, said: "I'm playing Ram's son in it. We are always after each other's cases. The film is a family comedy because it has everything - a mother, father, and son. Also we have various love angles in it. There is nothing like adult comedy in it."

"Kuch Kuch Locha Hai", which also stars Evelyn Sharma, will release on Friday.

Veteran filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao, who has directed over 100 films, says he cannot make films anymore that will match the taste of current audiences'.

He says he would rather concentrate on producing films with young talent.

"I just feel I can't match the expectations of the present audiences' with my type of films. Recently, actor Pawan Kalyan told me that I'm suppose to directing films and asked me to direct him. I gave him the same reason," Dasari told IANS.

"Moreover, Pawan is a star and I can't risk his reputation. Since he wanted to work with me, I've decided to produce a film with him. We plan to rope in a popular director for this project," he said.

Remaining tight-lipped about the project, Dasari confirmed it won't deal with any political subject.

"The script work is going now. Pawan and I decided to not make any political film. It'll be something his fans would love for sure," he said.

Dasari's last directorial was last year's Telugu drama "Erra Bus", which bombed at the box-office.

"I'm still not sure why that film didn't work. It was a huge hit in Tamil. More than that, what attracted to me was the lovely story about the relationship between a grandfather and his grandson," he said.

Actor Ram Kapoor, who seems to have broken the image of a stereotypical hero on small screen with many of his characters, says he hardly gets time to watch television.

When asked if he gets time to watch his wife Gautami's TV series "Tere Sheher Mein", he told IANS: "I haven't had the time to watch (the show). I don't watch TV and I don't watch my own shows either. She knows I am not the audience for this."

"Most of the time I am busy. Also I like to work and move on as I don't like to sit back and watch it. I have never been a big fan of watching my own shows," he added.

Slated to release on May 8, "Kuch Kuch Locha Hai" also features Evelyn Sharma and Navdeep Chhabra.

'India Pakistan' Vijay Anthony's most entertaining avatar

Debutant director N. Anand says actor-producer Vijay Anthony, who has so far featured in very serious roles in his career, will be seen in a full-length entertaining avatar in forthcoming Tamil romantic-comedy "India Pakistan".

"In both his earlier films 'Naan' and 'Salim', he has played serious roles. What audiences will get to see in my film is the exact opposite. He has attempted an entertaining avatar for the first time. He's danced and has also done comedy," Anand told IANS.

"There'll be lot of variation in his character. Both for audiences and Anthony, this role will be a welcome change," he added.

"India Pakistan", which is produced by Vijay Anthony under his home banner, releases in cinemas on Friday.

Explaining the reason behind the title, he said: "It's a romantic-comedy that will appeal to the family audiences. When we talk about India and Pakistan, the common issues that come to mind can also be found in any relationship."

"The title is the root of the story. It's not about any communities. By the end of the movie, people will realize why we opted for this title," he added.

It was through music composer Deena Devarajan that this project came to Anthony's notice.

"Deena and I have been good friends. I used to discuss the stories I had written with him. He, on the other hand, is very close to Anthony; worked as a keyboard player in his troupe. When Deena narrated this script to Anthony, he instantly liked it and brought me on board," he added.

Anand had previously assisted director Mithran Jawahar and editor Kola Bhaskar. He says the editing experience came in very handy.

"The editing experience helped me to edit lot of stuff in the scripting stage itself. This way I avoided shooting lot of scenes and wasting time," he said.

According to Anand, one of the highlights of the movie will be a song completely shot using visual effects (VFX).

The film also features Jagan and Pasupathy in important roles.

Ace filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma takes pride in upcoming Telugu romantic-drama "365 Days", as it happens to be the first film in his over two-decade career to have been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U-certificate.

"'365 Days' is the first U-certified film in my 25-year-old film career. In this movie, you'll find love and affection but not crime and bloodshed," Varma posted on his Twitter page in Telugu.

The film, which features Nandoo and Anaika Soti in the lead, offers a peek at the story of a couple post nuptials.

Varma had said earlier the film is not based on his marriage.

"It's the story of most couples nowadays. It's not based on my marriage. I penned the screenplay keeping in mind the emotions of a couple by looking at marriage from very close quarters," Varma told IANS.

"I had a failed marriage. It was not because of my wonderful wife. It was because she got a bad husband," he said.

According to Varma, marriage will soon be an extinct concept.

"A man and a woman need each other, but they can't live together by getting married. Marriage will no longer exist and people will prefer to be friends," he added.

R. Madhavan has shown his talent on the small screen in the past, but the actor says he will not do more fiction shows on TV.

As many as six Bengali short films will be showcased in the 'Short Film Corner' in the 68th edition of the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival beginning on May 13.

The Short Film Corner is dubbed as the essential rendezvous for filmmakers.

Ranging from thrillers, to dramas and projects with a social message, the six films are "Ei Taxi", "Hoyto Kobitar Jonyo", "Sita", "Fruit of Thy Labour", "One For The Wall" and "Kintsukuroi".

"Ei Taxi" by Anshuman Chakraborty is a psychological thriller set in Kolkata. It is about a middle-aged stubborn intoxicated taxi driver.

Shantanu Sinha's debut film "One for The wall" will have its world premiere at the Corner.

According to the Cannes festival website, in this film, two young ladies frequenting a popular coffee shop become curious when they find that people visiting the shop always order something extra which they don't consume. Later, they discover something that changes the way they look at the people of the city.

Amartya Bhattacharya's "Hoyto Kobitar Jonyo" is a satire on the present day society where creativity (personified as a woman) is killed every day, either by economic pressures, or by political corruptions. This film will have its world premiere.

"Sita" by Kangkan Deka is a social drama in which Moina, a nine-year-old boy lives with his widowed mother. He is emotionally connected with his goat but his mother has some other plans.

Koustav Bhattachary's maiden "Kintsukuroi" deals with the Japanese art form, meaning "golden repair" - the research topic for Arya Mukherjee. His quest for a vivid knowledge about Kintsukuroi culminates in a most unexpected way.

Since 2004, short film producers and directors have chosen the Short Film Corner as the place to present their films, meet colleagues and take decisive steps for their future careers.
