He is someone who enjoys star status, but actor Varun Dhawan says there is one thing that he misses is privacy.

"I miss my old life as I don't get privacy anymore. I can't have the fun that I used to have. But I'm passionate about acting and I can do anything for that," the actor told IANS.

Varun will be seen in a whole new look accompanied by anger and a spirit of vengeance on the big screen with "Badlapur".

The actor says portraying the role was not an easy task and film's director Sriram Raghavan helped him get into the skin of his character.

"I have worked very hard for this film. Sriram helped me a lot with work shops, voice modulation and all. But it was not easy at all.

"The role was quite challenging for me because of the character's maturity involved. But Sriram was very clear of what he wanted to convey through the role," he added.

Sriram Raghavan, who helmed Saif Ali Khan-starrer "Agent Vinod", says the length of the spy thriller worked against it.

"I think the main length of the movie was long. We tried to make it like a Bond film (James Bond film franchise). I feel bad that I lost the chance that I had got. I will try to make this kind of film again," he told IANS.

"Agent Vinod", which also featured Kareena Kapoor, was released in 2012 and didn't do well at the box office.

Raghavan, who is currently busy promoting his intense revenge drama "Badlapur" featuring Varun Dhawan, Huma Qureshi and Yami Gautam, also said that making a Tamil and a Marathi film is on his priority list.

"I am a Tamilian but I have lived in Mumbai and Pune so I'm more of a Maharashtrian. Hence, I want to make one Tamil and a Marathi film just for my own satisfaction," he said.

Controversial film "MSG - the Messenger", featuring Dera Sacha Sauda sect head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, was released Friday in 4,000 screens across the country. Protests were witnessed at several places in Haryana and authorities were forced to halt shows at two places following tension.

Local authorities had to halt screening of the film in Dabwali and Karnal towns following protests from Sikh organizations.

At other places like Sirsa (where the sect headquarters are located), Kurukshetra, Hisar and Gurgaon, various Sikh organizations and opposition Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supporters held protests against the release and screening of the film.

Security personnel patrolled near all the theatres and multiplexes across Haryana and Chandigarh Friday as the film was released.

Police and paramilitary forces manned sensitive areas.

Sect followers could be seen reaching theatres and multiplexes where the film was being screened.

Prohibitory orders against assembly of people and carrying weapons were issued across Haryana Thursday to deal with any untoward situation, resulting due to the build-up of tension over the release of the film.

Haryana Director General of Police Yashpal Singal had urged people to maintain law and order.

"Section 144 has been imposed in various districts and additional police personnel have been deployed in all the cinema halls," he said.

The Punjab government has banned the release of the film last month.

After being denied a release certificate by the Censor Board last month, the film got the certificate last week.

While the Dera Sacha Sauda sect headquarters are located near Sirsa town, 250 km from Chandigarh, Kurukshetra and some other places house a substantial Sikh population.

The relations between sect followers and Sikhs have not been good in recent years.

In Chandigarh, security has been tightened around malls, where the film was released.

Sikh leaders Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Chandigarh administration Thursday, seeking a ban on the release of the film.

The controversial movie was earlier called "MSG" (Messenger of God).

It was to be released Jan 16, but it did not get clearance. Various groups protested against its release at that point.

The sect leader, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who plays the protagonist in the film, is its director, singer and lyricist, and has been aggressively promoting the film countrywide.

The sect claims the movie is not against any religion or group and is only highlighting social evils.

Scope for Indian actors widening globally: Nimrat Kaur

Talented Indian actor Nimrat Kaur, who has been rubbing shoulders with Hollywood's creme de la creme at foreign awards' galas since her internationally acclaimed and BAFTA-nominated film "The Lunchbox" and American TV series "Homeland", says the scope of roles for Indian actors has widened across the globe.

"The scope for Indian actors is widening everywhere in the world. The world is becoming a smaller place. Actors are nowadays preferring to work in different places.

"Besides, I don't think I would have been able to make the career that I have today, 10 years ago. A lot of multiplexes are coming up, and making a film is not as difficult as it was earlier," Nimrat told IANS ahead of the TV premiere of "The Lunchbox" on Valentine's Day Saturday.

The actress was last week at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards red carpet as "The Lunchbox" was nominated in the Film Not in the English Language category. It lost to Polish drama "Ida".

But winning and losing awards doesn't matter to Nimrat, who essayed a lovelorn wife named Ila in the movie.

"Considering that it's the beginning of my career, 'The Lunchbox' is extremely special for me. The kind of love it has garnered has made me feel great about it," Nimrat said of the movie, in which she shared screen space with versatile actors Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

"I don't think that winning or losing an award matters. It's a wonderful thing that the film got nominated. It's a great honour for such an amazing film, as it represented India at the international level. Also, the BAFTA platform is not where India has to nominate a film from its side (like in Oscars).

"It was picked by them only as one of the five films for the respective category," added the 32-year-old who, in a ravishing pink gown with a daring and plunging neckline, made a style statement at the ceremony.

Before the BAFTA red carpet, Nimrat also made an appearance at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, thanks to her role as Tasneem Qureshi in the US political thriller television series "Homeland".

Asked about the difference she witnessed working for the TV series in comparison to "The Lunchbox", Nimrat said: "TV series abroad work in a way as big as for movies. The amount of money that they use for producing shows is huge. Their punctuality and their sense of time is very brilliant."

Now in India, the actress will begin work on a mainstream film "Airlift", which stars Bollywood's 'Khiladi' Akshay Kumar.

Soaring high with the success of "Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan”, composers Manmeet and Harpeet Gulzar of Meet Brothers Anjjan from upcoming movie “Roy” say they are overwhelmed with the response.

“The fame is a blessing from our parents. We are extremely overwhelmed that people are grooving to this beat,” Harmeet told IANS at an event at the Chew Pan Asian Cafe here to promote “Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan".

Composed by Meet Brothers Anjjan and sung by Kanika Kapoor, the song has been topping the music charts for several weeks.

“We have been very passionate about music. We used to compose for ourselves. We started off with composing jingles at a radio station. Our talent and hard work got noticed and we started composing music in Bollywood”, added the duo who had given many hit tracks last year like “Hangover” from “Kick”, “Pink Lips” from “Hate Story-2” and “Party toh banti hai” from “Bhootnath Returns”, among others.

Meet Brothers Anjjan created a sensation last year with “Baby Doll” for “Ragini MMS2” movie which marked the Bollywood debut of Kanika Kapoor.

“Kanika is like our younger sister. We introduced her to Bollywood. She has a very prominent voice, very different from others,” Manmeet told IANS.

Kanika recently bagged several citations, including the Filmfare, Stardust and Screen awards as the best singer for “Baby Doll”.

“Kanika made us proud and we are happy for her success. We made her a star, we are not hungry for limelight”, replied Manmeet.

“Salman dubbed thrice for the song. He is very hardworking and passionate. We had learned a lot from him. It is always a pleasure working with him and would like to again compose for Salman in the future” Manmeet said when asked about actors they looked forward to working with.

The Meet Brothers also spoke on the recent controversy revolving around the AIB video. “It is your choice what to see and what not to. People are

judgmental. I am no one to say whether it was good or bad. It is an individual's perception,” Manmeet said.

The duo also enjoys working with Mohit Chauhan and Khusboo Grewal have many Bollywood movies lined up for release like “Mastizaade” and “Ek Paheli Leela”. Their album is set to be released in August.
