Aamir Khan is 49, but can give any younger actor of Bollywood a run for his money. The actor-producer says his genes and healthy lifestyle are to be credited.

Aamir turned 49 Friday.

When asked about the secret behind his youthful looks and fit frame, he said: "What should I say...a lot of it has to do with my genes, and I always eat healthy. I stay conscious about what I eat."

He is also always determined to get the look right for his characters - so, it was no wonder that for the 2008 film "Ghajini", Aamir went out of his way to get eight-pack abs. Even for last year's "Dhoom 3", he had worked hard on his body for a long time.

Aamir has been entertaining Hindi film audiences for over 25 years.

The actor is currently seen as the host of the second season of TV show "Satyamev Jayate", which deals with socially relevant issues.

Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan, who believes in the right of education for each individual, joined a social campaign for the cause by painting a part of a school's wall here.

Supporting P&G's flagship corporate social responsibility program P&G Shiksha at an event here recently, Soha said: "I truly believe that education is a basic right of every child and it is heartening to see a movement like P&G Shiksha facilitating education for underprivileged children."

The actress, who is the daughter of veteran talent Sharmila Tagore, sincerely believes "infrastructure is a key issue at schools across the country".

"P&G Shiksha makes the necessary infrastructure interventions by painting the school walls today, I have been able to play a small role in giving these children a bright and colourful future and ensuring they have access to a fully functional school," she added.

Soha also turned teacher for the day and involved the children in some interactive learning by implementing fun tactics, and she even engaged them in a rapid fire round on a wide range of subjects.

The Oxford University alumnus has urged people to join the movement by making the simple brand choice of buying P&G products, as a part of the proceeds go towards building and supporting schools.

The P&G Shiksha program has impacted the lives of over 420,000 children and it continues to march forward with the motto 'Padegha India, Badhega India'.

Reminiscing about childhood, Jaaved Jaaferi said that his younger brother Naved was more mischievous than him.

The actor-filmmaker is set to make an appearance on Disney's new show "Captain Tiao" and he shared his childhood memories with the show's host and child artist Sadhil Kapoor, said a statement.

When Sadhil asked who was naughtier, the actor said: "Naved was naughtier than me. When we were kids, after school we used to climb the mango trees near our house and steal raw mangoes. And our neighbour, to whom it belonged, would shoot at us with an air gun!"

The siblings are currently seen judging dance reality show "Boogie Woogie" along with actor Ravi Behl on Sony Entertainment Television.

When asked who would scold him the most - his father and veteran comedian Jagdeep or his mother, Javed promptly answered: "The neighbours."

With Rs.21 crore, 'Queen' reigns over box office for second week

"Queen" is giving tough competition to recently released " Bewakoofiyan" - while the Kangana starrer has hauled in Rs.21 crore and is still going strong at the box office, the weekend earning of Sonam Kapoor's film is just Rs.4.74 crore, say trade pundits.

Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines summed up the films' performances:"'Queen' is doing an outstanding business and it's still going houseful in many theaters. Though 'Bewakoofiyan' released this Friday, yet the business of 'Queen' has not been affected."

Directed by Vikas Bahl, "Queen", an atypical drama, came out March 7 along with much talked about Madhuri Dixit-Juhi Chawla's gritty hinterland drama "Gulaab Gang" and Yami Gautam and Ali Zafar's romantic comedy "Total Siyapaa".

Madhuri and Juhi in "Gulaab Gang" created a lot of pre-release buzz, but thanks to word of mouth publicity "Queen", which offered a tailor-made role to Kangana, left it behind in the race at box office. Even cross-border love story "Total Siyapaa" failed to impress critics and audiences.

After it exceeded the expectations of all and sundry in its release week, "Queen" is giving a tough competition to Yash Raj Films' release this week "Bewakoofiyan", a comedy that also stars Ayushmann Khurrana.

Film critic Taran Adarsh shared the first weekend earning of "Bewakoofiyan" and the second week collection of "Queen" on his Twitter page.

He tweeted: "'Bewakoofiyan' Fri Rs.2.23 crore, Sat Rs.2.51 crore. Total: Rs.4.74 crore nett. India biz."

"'Queen' (Week 2) Fri Rs.2.15 crore. Grand total: Rs.21 crore nett. India biz."

Thadani said: "'Queen' is doing well in the multiplexes universally and is growing universally with each passing day. The collection of 'Bewakoofiyan' is not up to the mark."

Actress Hamsa Nandini, who plays warrior princess Madanika in upcoming Telugu period-drama "Rudhramadevi", says filmmaker Gunasekhar was so impressed with her looks and elegance that he offered her the role.

"When I was called by Gunasekhar for audition, I was told that he had already auditioned nearly 100 girls to play Madanika. When he finalised me for the role, I was curious and asked him what he liked in me. He said I had the grace that he wanted for the character," Hamsa told IANS.

"He said there's a thin line that divides grace and sensuality. He felt I could bring that through my character," she said.

The film involves a lot of stunts and Hamsa enjoyed performing them.

"This is the first time I'm part of a film with a scope for action. I admit training in horse riding and archery is physically gruelling, but seeing yourself on screen performing action is fun. I enjoyed performing stunts for a change," she said.

Scheduled for a 2015 release, "Rudhramadevi", directed and produced by Gunasekhar, features an ensemble cast of Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, Aditi Chengappa, Nathalia Kaur, Prakash Raj, Nithya Menen and Baba Sehgal.

Playing a blind is most challenging: Dinesh

Actor Dinesh, who will be seen playing a blind character in forthcoming Tamil romantic-drama "Cuckoo", describes it as the most challenging role of his career.

"Cuckoo", directed by debutant Raja Murugan, is the love story of two blind characters.

"It was the most challenging role of my career. I may have done only a few films so far, but I never worked so hard for any of the roles. Although I attended a workshop for the blind to prepare for the role, I also spent months observing real blind folks closely," Dinesh told IANS.

"I spent many evenings watching blind people at the bus stops and railway stations, studied their mannerism and every smallest detail that I could use to play my character. It took me nearly two weeks to walk like a blind person, so you could imagine the time and effort that has gone into the character," he added.

Jointly produced by Fox Star Studios and The Next Big Film Productions, "Cuckoo" releases March 21.

Dinesh says the film has brought out the best in him.

"I have given 200 percent to my role. The films I have done so far expected me to only act well, but 'Cuckoo' was one film where I had to get under the skin of the character. I feel it has extracted the best out of me. The audience will be the best judge of it," he said.

Filmmaker Nupur Asthana, the director of "Bewakoofiyaan", says finding a producer for her films was not a cakewalk.

"My journey has certainly not been easy. I have struggled a lot to find producers for my films. As a newcomer everyone faces this problem, but I am thankful to Yash Raj Films (YRF), who believed in me," Asthana told IANS.

It was the prestigious YRF that gave her a chance to direct her maiden film -- 2011 romantic comedy "Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge" and her second film "Bewakoofiyaan" too has been produced by the same production house.

"Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge" opened to a lukewarm response at the box office and even "Bewakoofiyaan", which hit the screens Friday, managed to earn Rs.4.74 crore in the first weekend.

Asthana teamed up with Sonam Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana in "Bewakoofiyaan" and praised the actress to the skies.

She said: "Sonam is very intelligent. She is a kind of a person who reads a lot. I couldn't think of anyone else for 'Bewakoofiyaan'."

Police have registered a complaint against Shiv Sena Lok Sabha MP Anandrao Adsul and two others for abusing and threatening NCP candidate and actress Navneet Kaur-Rana, an official said here Sunday.

"We have lodged offences pertaining to threats, using foul language, abuse in the name of caste and character," said an official of Gadge Nagar police station.

When contacted, the 67-year-old Adsul denied the charges levelled by Kaur-Rana.

"All this is deliberate. She wants to gain public sympathy... not maintaining public standards and made false allegations against me," Adsul told IANS.

Kaur-Rana, 27, a well-known southern film actress and model, said she was harassed by Adsul and his supporters since the past two months after it became evident that she would be contesting against him in the Lok Sabha elections on a Nationalist Congress Party ticket.

"This morning, as I was sitting in the police station and registering my complaint, they called and threatened me that if I filled my election nomination form, that would be the last day of my life," Kaur-Rana, wife of Ravi Rana, Independent legislator from Badnera town (Amravati), told IANS.

Kaur-Rana said she and Adsul were part of a TV interview being shot in a local bus Sunday morning.

"When he made some vague statements about his work in the constituency in the past five years, I requested him to be more specific. Enraged at this, he started using foul language and questioned my character," she said.

In the past, Kaur-Rana had alleged that some miscreants had posted obscene photos of her on various social networking websites to malign her reputation before the elections.

Even on other private and public fora, she accused Adsul and his supporters of vilifying her in many ways and said "they seem scared after my entry into the electoral fray".

Police said they are investigating the matter.

Kaur-Rana has acted in several Kannada and Telugu films. She married legislator Rana in 2011.

Kareena had a grand entry with fireworks on the ramp. Donning long black dress with silver work all around, the actress looked stunning with her hair tied, metallic eye shadow and minimal make up.

Bollywood: Actresses who launched their own production companies

$

Shilpa Shetty, who is on the crest of a wave now, has jumped on the production bandwagon. The fate of the actress-fitness expert-businesswoman's maiden production venture "Dhishkiyaoon" will be decided March 28, but it is time to scan the success and failure ratio of her and other actresses who turned producers.

Here is the list of actresses who took a risk as producers:

Shilpa Shetty: For "Dishkiyaoon", Shilpa and producer Sunil Lulla have risked their money on Harman Baweja, who is yet to give a hit, and newcomer Ayesha Khanna. Sunny Deol, whose stakes are not on the rise right now, also stars in the actioner. They may be backing the wrong horse, but Shilpa seems to be confident and recently described the film as an "interesting masala entertainer on underworld". She has even tried to up the glamour quotient by featuring in an item number for the film.

Pooja Bhatt: An actor to reckon with, Pooja, who proved her mettle with films like "Daddy", "Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin" and "Zakhm", comes from a family of producers and directors and so the next natural step for her was to produce and direct. She started producing with "Tamanna" (1997) in which she was part of the cast. Pooja, who produces under her banner Fisheye Network, has so far made about 10 films and out of them "Dushman", "Zakhm", "Jism", and "Jism 2" set the cash registers ringing.

Ameesha Patel: She became an overnight sensation post the release of "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai" and later repeated it with the success of "Gadar - Ek Prem Katha". She has also been part of box office successes like "Humraaz" and "Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd", but later her career waned. Now she has turned producer and is trying to revive her sagging career with "Desi Magic", which is being directed by Mehul Atha. She will be seen with Zayed Khan and Sahil Shroff in it.

Dia Mirza: Model-turned-actress Dia has a few solo films to talk about, but she had her share of successes in hits like "Heyy Babyy", "Shootout At Lokhandwala", "Parineeta" and "Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd." After the roles started drying up, she along with actor Zayed Khan launched her production house Born Free. Their first film was romantic comedy "Love, Breakups, Zindagi" (2011) and they played the lead role in it, but it tanked. Now Dia is trying to reboot with "Bobby Jasoos", a spy-thriller centred on a female detective played by Vidya Balan. She is hoping "Bobby Jasoos" is loved by viewers.

Preity Zinta: Preity's modelling and acting career has been pretty successful and thanks to hits like "Soldier" and "Kal Ho Naa Ho", she was a most sought after actress. When she tried her hand in business by becoming the co-owner of Kings XI IPL team along with ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia, Mohit Burman and Karan Paul, she did it with aplomb. But she burnt her fingers when she turned producer with "Ishkq In Paris" (2013), which saw a debacle at the box office despite her being in the female lead along with Rhehan Malliek.

Lara Dutta: A former beauty queen and star of hits like "No Entry" and "Partner", Lara floated her production house Bheegi Basanti with husband and tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi and they came up trumps at the box office with their maiden production venture "Chalo Dilli" (2011), which also received critical acclaim.

Manisha Koirala: The "Saudagar" and "Bombay" fame Nepali beauty turned producer with "Paisa Vasool" (2004), but it wasn't a fruitful effort.

Hrishitaa Bhatt: She may have debuted opposite Shah Rukh Khan in "Asoka", but Hrishitaa couldn't climb higher on the success ladder as an actress. When she turned producer with "Shakal Pe Mat Jaa" (2011), a comedy directed by Shubh Mukherjee, she met the same fate.

Sushimita Sen: The former Miss Universe announced in 2007 that she will delve into production with English film "Jhansi Ki Rani", but it was later shelved. If reports are to be believed she may revive it as she has completed the writing part.

Juhi Chawla: Another beauty queen-turned actress tried her hand at production by teaming up with her co-star Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Aziz Mirza and launched Dreamz Unlimited. They made "Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani" (2000), a social satire that had Shah Rukh-Juhi in the lead roles, while Mirza helmed it. But the dream team's first venture bombed. Juhi, who co-owns Kolkata Knight Riders IPL team with SRK and her husband Jai Mehta, said in an interview that Dreamz Unlimited was a very ambitious project that never happened and that everything does not happen according to a plan and you learn your lessons the hard way.

Filmmaker-actor Rajat Kapoor acts in Hindi movies, directs in the same language, but says he doesn't watch them as good Hindi movies are few and far between.

His directorial ventures include "Mithya" and "Mixed Doubles" and he has acted in over 30 films, both mainstream and non-commercial. His performance was appreciated in "Phas Gaye Re Obama", "Bheja Fry", "Monsoon Wedding" and "Dil Chahta Hai" among others.

"I don't watch Hindi films. 95 percent of the films being made are not sensible. And amongst the 5 percent, 0.5 percent are decent. I am not interested," Kapoor, whose latest directorial venture "Ankhon Dekhi' is slated for a March 21 release, told IANS.

"For me, film is about making a shot. I come out empty after watching these films. But everybody has the right to make their kind of films and it's fine," he added.

Talking about Indian cinema on the whole, he said Marathi movies were interesting than Bengali.

"Indian cinema is a big term. Marathi films are very good and they (filmmakers) are making some good films. I saw 'Harsihchandrachi Factory' and it was fabulous. In Hindi, I liked 'Gangs of Wasseypur'.

"Bengali films have nothing to offer at the moment," he added.

Rajat is currently busy promoting "Aankhon Dekhi", a quirky drama about a character named Raje Bauji, played by Sanjay Mishra.

Set in Old Delhi, the story talks about the eventful life of Raje Bauji, who lives with his family in a small house.

Big B celebrates daughter's 40th b'day on Holi

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan says that this year Holi has coincided with his daughter Shweta Nanda's 40th birthday and he is spending the day with her.

"We do not celebrate it (Holi), again. There have been discomforting news for the year, the passing away of relations distant...it would be disrespectful to be immersed in the colours of abandon and joy when some among us mourn," Amitabh posted on his blog Sunday.

The 71-year-old is spending the day with Shweta.

"Tomorrow (Monday) is a day of travel again, to be with Shweta on her 40th...," he wrote.

Recalling her childhood days, he wrote: "Dear me...so many years, and we still treat her like that cute cuddly little bundle who would stare at me in wonder every time she would come to pick me up from the airport after a long stint of shooting from out of the country or land."

"She would wonder who I was, and what I meant to her, for absence from her for long days would perplex her...she was just a couple of years old," wrote Big B, who has two children - Shweta and Abhishek - with his wife and actress-politician Jaya.

The thespian says Shweta, who is married to Delhi-based businessman Nikhil Nanda, "remains our chief executive officer".

"When she comes home to Jalsa (Amitabh's Mumbai home), it's never as though she went away and she does not ever allow us to feel that she left... daughters have a way of doing that, and doing that well...She remains our chief executive officer and we turn to her for all the tough decisions that come our way.

"Daughters have a sense of the sixth, one that never fails to ring that cliched bell within us...for us it always rings well and loud. We are blessed and proud," he added.

Shweta has two children - daughter Navya Naveli and son Agastya.

Meera Chopra, who is foraying into Hindi films with forthcoming comedy "Gang Of Ghosts", would like to follow her star cousin Priyanka Chopra and play negative roles.

Priyanka is known for playing grey roles in "Aitraaz" and "7 Khoon Maaf" with elan and Meera, a popular name down south, would accept such offers without a second thought.

"I would love to do that. I always used to say that I want to do grey roles because they are very interesting," said Meera.

She feels that everybody has a grey side to their personality, which doesn't come out.

"It's fun to experience that genre. If I get that opportunity, I will sign it in just a minute's time. I will not even give it a second thought," said Meera.

Did Chopra help her get films in Bollywood?

She said: " The Hindi film industry is very professional. They (filmmakers) don't care whose sister you are or where you come from. They won't cast you just because of your name. Chopra surname never helped me to get films. When it comes to casting, they would cast the right person. The professionalism in Bollywood is on a different level."

Meera is right now promoting "Gang Of Ghosts". Directed by Satish Kaushik, the film stars Mahie Gill, Sharman Joshi, Meera Chopra among others.

"She is very smart and sensible. I know her well personally. She would make a good leader and I would be happy to support her if she needs it," he told IANS here.

"I am in support of a good leader and whoever can do good work," Kohli asserted, clarifying he is not linked to any political outfit.
