Aspiring for Deepika Padukone's look? Find out how

0
0

Bollywood films always inspire style and fashion, and actress Deepika Padukone's classic updo in “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela" has done the same.

Get your own version of the simple yet sophisticated bun using the following six simple steps as suggested by Navyata Malkani from YouTube channel FOMO (Fashion On My Own):

* Step 1: Start by applying a smoothing detangler or a serum on your damp hair to tame the frizz, making your hair more manageable

* Step 2: Next, part your hair into two halves horizontally, thus just taking a small section of hair from the forehead to the crown area. Backcomb the former half of the hair very thoroughly to add some volume.

* Step 3: Likewise, roughly divide the hair into as many sections as possible and similarly backcomb all the sections to add volume and bounce to your hair. Make sure to do this well as this will reflect well towards the end of the process.

* Step 4: Now take the front section of your hair and smoothen it out using a comb to make it look neater and pin it all up at the back, near your crown area, using bobby pins.

* Step 5: Once you’ve done that, form the bun using the remaining half of the hair and twist it around forming it a neat bun and pin up the bun tightly using bobby pins. You will notice that the backcombing has added volume to the bun and the hair making it look poofy.

* Step 6: To complete the look, roughly loosen a few strands of hair on the corners of your face in order to define the frame of your face and your Deepika Padukone look is now complete!

To keep up with the age of contemporary advances, actor Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi’s production banner Grazing Goat Pictures recently launched Grazing Goat Digital. The first venture to emerge is the Youtube channel “FOMO Fashion On My Own”, a Hindi fashion channel which helps trend-conscious women transform into glamorous goddesses without having to step into a salon.

Rajat Kapoor's awkward moment with Naseeruddin Shah

Filmmaker-actor Rajat Kapoor says he faced an awkward moment while casting for his film "Ankhon Dekhi".

Kapoor's first choice for the main role was Sanjay Mishra, but when he couldn't contact the actor, he approached Naseeruddin Shah for the same.

As luck would have it, when Naseer gave his nod for the role, Sanjay too returned and the director found himself in a fix.

"When Sanjay had become unavailable and unreachable, I approached Naseer sir. But fortunately or unfortunately he (Sanjay) came back," Kapoor told IANS.

Directed by Kapoor, "Ankhon Dekhi" is slated for a March 21 release.

"Meanwhile, Naseer sir had read the script in three days and he liked it and by that time Sanjay had come back and I must say it was a bad timing, terrible timing."

"But Sanjay was my first choice and I went through a lot of shit. I told Naseeruddin Shah I will give him some other role in the same film, but he said he will not do it. Then I wrote a long mail and he replied nicely, saying Sanjay deserves it and all. But it was an awkward moment."

A quirky film, "Ankhon Dekhi" revolves around Raje Bauji (Sanjay), a man in his late 50s, living out a dreary but eventful life in a small house in old Delhi, in which he lives with his extended family.

Aamir Khan lodges complaint with Mumbai police

Bollywood star Aamir Khan has registered a complaint with the Mumbai police in the wake of a defamatory campaign against him on social networking website Facebook. The "malicious messages are wrong and baseless", he has said.

Aamir Saturday met Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria and Joint commissioner (law and order) Sadanand Date. The officials have assured swift investigation and action. The Cyber Cell of the Crime Bureau will investigate the case, said an official statement.

Aamir made his TV debut with "Sataymev Jayate" (SMJ) in May 2012 and the show, dealing with sensitive social issues like female feticide, domestic violence and child abuse, received a warm welcome from the TV viewers after it went on air on Star Plus. Some of the episodes dealing with female feticide and malpractices in medical field recorded the highest ratings.

He launched the second season March 2 on STAR India channels with a sensitive issue of rape, and the second episode, beamed Sunday, talked about police force.

It has been alleged in the messages on social networking site (https://www.facebook.com/AwakIND/posts/10151964856603531?stream_ref=10) that that when at the end of the show, Aamir asks for donations for Humanity Trust, the money is used for masjid construction assistance and placement assistance for Muslim youth.

Aamir took to his Facebook page and clarified that he is associated with Humanity Trust, Hanspukur, West Bengal, not the other Humanity Trust.

"False and malicious messages are circulating through various electronic media. including WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and other social media networks, alleging that donations are being sought in my television program 'Satyamev Jayate' Season 2, in relation to an entity by the name of Humanity Trust, which is claimed to be working in the field of Masjid Construction Assistance and placement assistance for Islamic youngsters. This is entirely false," Aamir said in his March 7 post on https://www.facebook.com/aamirkhan.com.

"I would like to clarify that 'Satyamev Jayate', in Season 1 was associated with Humanity Trust, Hanspukur, West Bengal, a charitable hospital run by Ajoy Mistry and his mother Subhashini Mistry. Humanity Trust, Hanspukur, West Bengal, is doing excellent work in the field of health care and provides free medical facilities to the poor. More information can be found on their website www.humanityhospital.org and our websitehttp://www.satyamevjayate.in/every-life-is-precious/humanity-trust.aspx. "

"Please note that Humanity Trust, Hanspukur, has nothing to do with Humanity Trust referred to in the malicious messages. I would like to clarify that all donations sought in SMJ are used and channelized for entirely deserving and secular causes, contrary to the content of the highly mischievous/malicious insinuations in the messages, being circulated by vested and unscrupulous interest."

"These malicious messages are entirely false, wrong and baseless. I categorically deny that SMJ has anything to do with Humanity Trust as stated in the malicious messages or that we have called for donations in the name of the said entity. I urge the members of the public to disregard the said malicious message," he wrote.

He also urged viewers to seek information on all NGOs featured on the show on websitewww.satyamevjayate.in.

"Spread the love guys," he wrote.

Initially Rahman was hesitant of accepting 'Kochadaiiyaan'

Double Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman says he was not confident about working in "Kochadaiiyaan", said to be the country's first performance capture photo-realistic technology 3D animated film.

Directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin, "Kochadaiiyaan" features superstar Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles.

"In 2010, I was offered an English animated film by DreamWorks to be made using the same technology. But they told me that it will take them five years to complete it. I wondered how I could sustain interest for five years, but I understood the effort that goes into making such films," Rahman, who has composed music for the film, told reporters Sunday at the audio launch of "Kochadaiiyaan".

"A year later, Soundarya approached me with 'Kochadaiiyaan', which was to be made using the same technology. She said she will finish the film in one year. Since I knew how much of effort goes into such films, I hesitated, but when I finally started working on the project and I could feel the positive energy and the commitment," he added.

Also starring Jackie Shroff, R. Sarath Kumar, Shobana, Nasser, Aadi Pinisetty and Rukmini, "Kochadaiiyaan" is slated to release April 11 worldwide.

"Like how we have Hollywood and Bollywood, I believe this film will open the door for south Indian cinema to create a new industry. I wish them all the luck for the same," he said.

I'm a big Rajinikanth fan: SRK

Bollywood supestar Shah Rukh Khan Sunday said he is such a big fan of Rajinikanth that he decided to attend the audio launch of his film "Kochadaiiyaan".

"I came here for three reasons. Firstly, like all of you, I am a big Rajinikanth fan," Shah Rukh told reporters at the launch.

Reminiscing his earlier days, SRK said that many years ago when he landed in Mumbai, he went to see the shooting of a Hindi film starring Rajinikanth and learned an important lesson after observing the southern superstar.

"I saw from far away that he was standing in front of a big mirror and practising throwing cigarette in his mouth.

"There were a lot of actors minding their own business, but Rajini sir kept on practising. He was getting it right like he does every time in the film, but he kept practising. That's one of my learning lessons of my life because someone of his talent and stature keeps on working so hard," he said.

The second main reason is friendship, said SRK.

"I was in need of a lot of help during the making of 'Ra One', and I would like to thank Rajini sir, Soundarya and Lata ma'am for helping me out overnight. I have come as a friend because whenever I came to Chennai or Tamil Nadu, all of you have given me so much of love," he added.

Talking about the third reason, SRK said: "I came here as a seeker of knowledge because the films made here actually make our country the proudest. The films by K. Balachander sir, Shankar sir and so many others have taught so much in cinema."

Shah Rukh, who recently paid tribute to Rajinikanth through the song "Lungi Dance" in "Chennai Express", crooned a few lines of the song on stage for the superstar.

The film has been directed by Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya. SRK said he is excited about "Kochadaiiyaan" as it has been made using motion capture photo-realistic technology.

"I was extremely excited when four years ago Soundarya talked about her ambitious project because this is going to change cinema in this country. I believe this technology is going to be one of the finest steps in Indian film industry," he said.

Also starring Jackie Shroff, Shobana, R. Sarath Kumar, Aadi Pinisetty, Nasser and Rukmini, "Kochadaiiyaan" will release April 11 worldwide.

Yes yes you heard it right. Mr Bachchan aka the global superstar and movie icon turned up at 'Bhoothnath Returns' sets on a …..wait for it….automated scooter!!!

For the hugely anticipated sequel, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Abhay Chopra, filming was going on at a real location in Versova, Mumbai. As it happened there was tremendous construction work going on due to which many of the roads were blocked and Big B’s vanity van and his car couldn’t access the area! It was a really long walk from the parking area to the sets, trust Big B to come up with a most fun and innovative solution without troubling the crew!

We hear that he would travel for 2-3 days to the location on a personal fun automated scooter! Seems like the child in him was revived as he would excitedly travel all over the set in the scooter much to the amusement of the crew and had a blast!

Says Director Nitesh Tiwari, “There was a lot of digging and construction work going on at the Versova location ad it was quite a long walk from the parking to the sets. Rather than troubling us or delaying time, Mr Bachchan came onto the sets on a unique scooter and would zip around in it the whole day! He seems to be enjoying himself thoroughly and it was quite a nice sight for us too’ he smiles

Well he is not THE movie icon and superstar for nothing!

Bhoothnath Returns is an entertaining tale of good against evil, weak against powerful, past against future directed by Nitesh Tiwari releasing on 11th April.

Anupam Kher shares life's experiences at special workshop

Veteran actor Anupam Kher has moved to a new level in his vocation as an acting guru. He is helming a life-coaching workshop in Landour near Mussorie, where he is sharing life-related learnings with his handpicked students.

The three-day workshop began Sunday and will end Tuesday.

"There will be just ten students in the life-coaching workshop. I won't be gifting gyaan (learning) to them. I don't see myself as a guru. I just want to share my life's experiences - whether it's acting, writing or teaching," he said.

The Landour landscape chosen for this exclusive interactive session is not co-incidental. It will eventually be the venue for Anupam's therapeutic school where spiritual, emotional and physical healing would be provided for the very exclusive casualties of life.

While Anupam continues to dole out 'gyaan' through his verbal and written discourses, his acting career goes great guns. His latest release "Total Siyapaa" has him doing some very naughty things with a British prostitute in the back of a van.

"I didn't do the film for these naughty scenes. I did it for the pleasure of working with my wife Kirron. She is very talented. And 'Total Siyapaa' is her film. Not mine. I just have a small role. I did the film because we've never worked together before," he said.

Money has overshadowed theatre in India: Neetu Chandra

0
0

Actress Neetu Chandra, who recently made her stage debut with the theatrical adaptation of "Umrao Jaan", says not too many actors show interest in theatre because they cannot make a living out of it.

"I think money has overshadowed theatre in our country. Not just theatre but a lot of professions for that matter because we view everything from a commercial perspective. You can be in theatre out of passion, but can't make a living out of it because cinema pays much more," Neetu told IANS.

Neetu, who has so far starred in films such as "Traffic Signal" and "13 B", has two Hindi films and a Telugu ready for release. Her international project titled "Home Sweet Home" is also readying for release.

She says theatre expects actors to step out of their comfort zone.

"We don't have many film actors in theatre because they are used to a certain kind of an affluent lifestyle. Theatre also requires a lot of hard work and time. It requires one to come out of his or her comfort zone. So are we ready to do it and what cost?" she asked

"I was paid Rs.500 each show and Rs.1,000 for a houseful show of 'Umrao Jaan'. I didn't mind because I have done 18 films and money hasn't been a problem... I'm happy doing theatre," she added.

There are many benefits of theatre and one of them is that it helps one connect with inner self, she said.

"Theatre for sure is much more satisfying than cinema.... Theatre also makes you alive," said Neetu.

"Through theatre I have explored myself as an artiste. It has helped me realise what I like and dislike. You ask people what do they like about themselves and honestly, many wouldn't know. Theatre helps you connect with yourself," she added.

Are all film actors good theatre artists and vice versa?

"It's tough to say because all theatre artists have not proved to be good actors on the screen," she said and added that if a movie actor takes plunge into theatre, he or she has to "leave behind their glamorous lifestyle, work for pittance and spend hours rehearsing to succeed on stage. It's not easy to make such sacrifices".

Having successfully completed nine shows of her play, Neetu wants to continue doing theatre as well as films.

"I'm not doing theatre for money. I'm doing it for satisfaction. I plan to continue doing it," she said.

"I want to follow in the footsteps of Hollywood stars. They do theatre, act in really good films and also keep themselves physically fit. I want to be an actor who would do films in all languages globally. This year, I want to do plays as well as films," she said.

"Theatre audience makes you feel respected. A lot of senior actors watched my play and literally cried. Kareena Kapoor told me that she was stunned by my performance and language. It's very humble of her say all this to another actor, but she couldn't stop herself from saying it," she said.

"Kajol appreciated my performance. Farida Jalal too had nice things to say. I haven't got such response and complements for my award winning films. So theatre gives me an immense respect and satisfaction as an actress," she added.

I can act, sing: Ayushmann on his biggest plus point

0

Ayushmann Khurrana, who made a fruitful debut with "Vicky Donor" and is now looking forward to "Bewakoofiyaan", says he sees no "competitor" in the Hindi film industry. He further believes that he has a major plus point in the fact that he can act as well as sing.

Bollywood currently has a whole lot of young blood, and when asked who does he consider as a competitor from among the likes of Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, Ayushmann said: "There is no competitor as such. I think my biggest plus point is that I am an actor and singer as well."

"As far as Ranbir Kapoor is concerned, he is my senior and I like his work," added the multi-faceted talent, who was earlier a video jockey.

The actor who got married at a very early age says he is happy about that.

In "Bewakoofiyaan", Ayushmann features with Sonam Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor.

The senior Kapoor's presence in a movie can be unnerving for some, but Ayushmann is not a wee bit nervous about being overshadowed.

"I have huge respect for Rishi Kapoor. He is playing a prominent role in the film, but I don't think I will get overshadowed because at the end of the day, Sonam and I are playing the heroine and hero, respectively, in the film," he said.
